Contemporary dance | A MIND-MEETS-BODY APPROACH

Mind/Body Contemporary Seminar focuses on activating and moving the whole body intelligently and efficiently through space, both physically and energetically. In the durational-style warm-up, small movement series are intermingled with moments of technique, simple task-based improvisation, and bits of basic yoga to gently, yet thoroughly, warm up the whole body and our 360-degree awareness. We find our center, our internal alignments, and our relationship to the space around us in a gently rigorous practice that focuses on body awareness, connection to space, relationship of movement to breath, and caring for the body as our most important instrument. These concepts are then translated into larger movement phrases where we fly, stretch, explore space and the ground underneath us, and ride the waves of our momentum.
